Converting Somfy Ilmo io RH 20/17 for Smart Home use: Cable instead of wireless
Your Somfy Ilmo io RH 20/17 is working perfectly, but you'd like to control your roller shutters or awnings with Shelly or another smart home system? The Somfy RTS and io radio protocols are proprietary and cannot be controlled with wired smart home relays. Instead of replacing the perfectly functional motor, we'll retrofit it for wired control.
This will be done
- We remove the radio motor head from the motor tube of your intact motor.
- We use a wired motor head ( LT, PA or WT ), matching your Somfy Ilmo io RH 20/17 in torque and speed.
- The motor capacitor is replaced, which prevents future repairs.
Then you control the motor via a classic switch or a smart home relay with separate up/down outputs, for example a Shelly.
Note regarding the end positions
After the conversion, readjust the end positions: for LT and PA heads directly on the motor head, for WT heads via an adjustment cable. Instructions are included.

Sequence

Why doesn't my Somfy Ilmo io RH 20/17 work with Shelly?
RTS and io are proprietary Somfy radio protocols. Shelly and similar relays control motors via cables with separate up/down lines. After conversion to a wired motor head, your motor will be compatible.
