Do you have any questions?
Repair request Do you want to control your roller shutters with Shelly or another smart home system, but have Somfy radio motors ( RTS or io ) installed? Then you know the problem: Somfy 's radio protocols are proprietary.
Shelly and similar relays require a wired motor with classic up/down control.
The usual advice is to buy all new motors, even though they are working perfectly.
Our Smarthome-Reha is the more affordable and sustainable solution:
We convert your existing radio-controlled motors to wired control. Your motor remains the same, only the radio function disappears.
Select radio technology, series and size directly on this page.
The radio receiver is located in the motor head of the tubular motor. That's precisely where we come in:
The result: a wired tubular motor that you can control via a standard switch or a smart home relay with separate up/down outputs. This works with all common roller shutter actuators with separate up and down outputs, for example Shelly, Homematic IP, Fibaro, Sonoff, KNX and Loxone blind actuators, or directly via Home Assistant.
You have the choice of how much function your motor should retain after the conversion:
| function | Comfort conversion (WT head) | Basic conversion (LT head) |
|---|---|---|
| End positions | electronic, optionally automatic via torque detection | Fixed at the top and bottom, mechanically adjustable at the head |
| Block detection | ✔ in both directions | — |
| Freeze protection | ✔ | — |
| Torque detection (awning, Orea WT ) | ✔ | — |
| Control via switch or Shelly | ✔ | ✔ |
| New motor capacitor included | ✔ | ✔ |
| Price | This corresponds to replacing the motor head on your model, starting from €69. | €49 (50 series) or €69 (60 series) |
In short: The comfort conversion preserves the electronic protection functions of your motor.
The basic conversion is the cheapest solution if you only need UP and DOWN with a fixed end position.
Comfort conversion (WT head): The price corresponds to the motor head replacement of your model and starts at €69.
Basic conversion (LT head): €49 for 50 series, €69 for 60 series, each including new motor capacitor.
You can find your model via our repair selection, or you can request the conversion directly and tell us the designation on the type plate of your motor.
1. Which radio technology does your Somfy motor use?
It is shown on the motor’s rating plate: RTS or io.
2. Choose the series
3. Choose the size (Nm/rpm)
4. Choose the variant and order
You send us your intact motor, including the connection cable, via Hermes. The conversion takes place on the day of receipt, and you will receive your invoice by email as soon as the conversion is successfully completed. Your motor will be returned to you insured on the day payment is received. You receive a 24-month warranty on all replaced parts.
RTS and io are proprietary Somfy radio protocols. Shelly and similar smart home relays control motors via cables with separate up/down lines. A radio-controlled motor cannot be controlled this way, but a wired motor can.
We replace the radio-controlled motor head of your intact motor with a wired motor head of the same torque and speed ( LT, PA, or WT ) and replace the motor capacitor in the process. The motor, brake, and gearbox inside the motor tube remain unchanged.
For LT and PA motor heads, you set the end positions directly on the motor head; for WT heads, you use an adjustment cable.
Instructions are included with the return shipment.
All intact Somfy radio-controlled motors with RTS or io technology, provided a wired motor head with the same torque and speed is available. Simply tell us the designation on the nameplate.
We'll check that for free.
The fixed price covers the cost of replacing the motor cylinder head on your model and starts at €69, with a 24-month warranty on all replaced parts. You will receive the invoice after successful conversion; insured return shipping will be arranged after payment is received.
In most cases, the outcome is clear: your functioning motors remain in use instead of being replaced. You only pay for the conversion and also receive a new capacitor, which prevents future repairs.
